Dear Elin Lundgren (S), Thank you for your email. Please ignore my previous message if you have received it and find my comments next to your questions below in red. Kind regards,
– How many persons have been sent back to Afghanistan from Sweden in this project? In fact, IOM Afghanistan is not involved in return process of those returnees who return from Sweden to Afghanistan under ERIN program, therefore we do not know the number of returnees sent back to Afghanistan, however 104 returnees who returned from Sweden and are eligible under ERIN program have approached IOM Afghanistan yet. Please also note that there might be returnees who returned from Sweden but have not approached us yet. And it is also to be mentioned that not everyone who return from Sweden is eligible for assistance under ERIN program.
– What do they to today? Have do they make a living, how do they live, do they have contacts with terror organisations? The returnees who come from Sweden and are eligible under ERIN program can benefit from reception assistance upon arrival at Kabul airport and as well as reintegration assistance. The reception assistance includes receiving the returnee by IOM staff at Kabul airport after passing the immigration, medical assistance (if required) at IOM Kabul airport clinic, information on mine-awareness, onward transportation (if requested) to returnees’ final destination – air or road transport, temporary accommodation up to 14 days in Kabul, if requested. The accommodation includes 3 time meals a day as well. The reintegration assistance includes in-kind assistance for set up of a small business, job placement, vocational/educational training, and housing. Right now, 32 returnees who are eligible under ERIN program have applied for the in-kind reintegration assistance and received their assistance. They have utilized their assistance in income generating activities, mainly business set up. In regards to the last part of your question (the highlighted part), we do not have any information concerning the contacts of returnees with terror organization.
